We just successfully released another group of Tiritiri Matangi hihi onto Maungatautari. This translocation?Ǭ†is targeted at important research questions relating to post-release dispersal and also health and disease screening associated with reintroduction.
PhD student Kate Richardson is the key here as it makes up a big part of her PhD research. She is co-registered between Massey University in New Zealand and the Institute of Zoology (IOZ)?Ǭ†in the UK. Rob Pickles (IOZ) is also down in New Zealand now assisting Kate?Ǭ†with tracking the hihi over the next month. Tony Sainsbury (IOZ) also visited Tiritiri Matangi on the initial capture days and chatted with the team.
