I am looking into improving hihi reintroduction through population dynamics modelling. This is part of my PhD on modelling the dynamics of translocated populations under different environmental and management scenarios. My project is funded by an AXA-Fund PhD scholarship that I was awarded in 2009 and I am based at the Institute of Zoology, ZSL. Previously, I got my BSc. at the University of Queensland, where I gained experience in quantitative modelling by looking at optimizing conservation resource allocation working with Hugh Possingham.
I was then introduced to population dynamics modelling during my MSc project (Imperial College/IoZ) on cheetah-lion interactions in the Serengeti National Park with Nathalie Pettorelli. I hope that my own experience and my collaboration with Doug Armstrong & John Ewen will allow me to improve current and future conservation efforts for the species.
