I am currently studying for a Master’s in Research from Imperial College London. Prior to this I spent 9 months working for the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation with a critically endangered passerine where I became interested in the use supplementary feeding as a conservation management tool. My research with hihi looks at the impacts of weather on supplementary food consumption. I am also testing to see whether we can build a model to predict consumption using long-term weather and breeding ecology datasets gathered from the hihi population on Tiritiri Matangi. My findings should hopefully improve the efficiency of supplementary food provisioning and contribute to a sustainable future for translocated hihi populations.
